On creepy-cute.

Cute things and horror seem at first to be opposites... and yet, there's a whole genre of cute-with-a-creepy-side and creepy-with-a-cute-side. Here's some of my faves.

Hello kitty on its own is slightly creepy to me... something about how nauseatingly saccharine the entire thing is rubs me the wrong way. So here's creepy kitty.

The picture on the left is simple, but beautiful... and it has just the right amount of teeth.

These veggies are truly adorable, and yet slightly eerie at the same time. Hmmm....

To the left is an image of Claudia from Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" and "Interview with the Vampire". Dear little Claudia is a child vampire. And not the Twilight kind at all.

And to the right, there's a piece called Shelter. Beauty of a thing. Look at it fullscreen if you can. That one's not so much a meld of creepy and cute as a direct juxtaposition. And it is gorgeous, in a hideous sort of way.

Slapjack is a video, but it is definitely creepy-cute.

And speaking of Jack... Pretty well everything Tim burton ever makes is some form of creepy-cute.

And then there's this strange little creepy-crawly. I'm sure he just wants to be friends....
Gheheheheheh....

Sure. Just like that guy below is just doing light cosmetic touch-ups. There is something way too malicious about that smile.

This one reminds me a lot of Claudia up there. Backstory here!
And now on to some stuff that's a bit more cute than creepy.

Look, tiny, cute little earrings!

And whatever that thing is!

Also a cute little black-and-blue demon!

And then there's more demonspawn! This one is holding a ball, apparently "to keep it out of trouble". Why is the design of that ball so familiar? Oh, right. This little demonspawn has been thieving from Pixar.

I'm not even sure that this fuzzy thing to the right belongs here, it's so cute. But it does have pointy teeth.

And pointy teeth are always creepy. Right boys?

Oggie, Maxim, and Dimo everyone! (in case you don't recognize them, they're from girl genius. I am a massive fan of that comic, so you're likely to see more of these guys.

Pink stamp! That's just too sickeningly cute.... or not...

Oh, and of course, the king of pointy teeth.... (or prince, I suppose would be a better title) BEAST! And yes, I feel shame for showing disney in an art blog, but it so fit. And no, there is no credit link. I don't need one. Everyone knows who this guy belongs to. And I mentioned Disney! That has got to be enough.

Am I the only one who thinks he was cuter furry?
